Abstract
The appearance of the science fiction has initiated a new type of literature .The excellence pieces not only contain special literature value, but also play an important role in spreading scientific spiritual、scientific ideology、scientific method among the public and making them understand science. Meanwhile, the science fiction industry, which takes the science fiction creation as the core, also has a huge potential in making profit.
The active and wide-ranging communication of the mass media makes the science fiction, in the process of combination with the media, becomes a popular culture abroad pursued by the people who are interested in science and fantasy. However, the history of New China has been only about half a century after experiencing a long history of feudalism, therefore, China is still a nation lacking of scientific spirits as well as the culture of science fiction. The long-term lack of good combination between the science fiction culture and the mass media makes the development of science fiction market very deficient, in spite of its huge potential. Compared with the vigorously developed industry of science fiction in foreign countries – America is a typical example in this field – China’s is still on the beginning stage by focusing on the publication of periodicals.
The widely spread feature of periodical makes it the important carrier for the popularization of science fiction and the pioneer for exploiting the science fiction market. This paper intends to comb the present status and development of Chinese science fiction periodicals from the multi-disciplinary angle of view based on case studies. It is expected to provide some theoretical supports and concrete instruction to the development of science fiction periodicals, and provide some inspirations and references for China’s science fiction industry.
